Nottinghamshire County Show
The roots of the Nottinghamshire County Show go way back to the centuries old Newark May Fair, which was held along the bank of the river Trent opposite Newark Castle.
Originally started in 1799 by the Newark Agricultural Society, for over 200 years our Society has dedicated itself to promoting food, farming and the countryside the Society. Traditionally, the County Show gave farmers the opportunity to get together with the local community to celebrate their pride and joy in their livestock, as well as enjoying a good old knees up.
This still happens today, with competitions held for the best in each class, with the addition of educational displays, local artisan food and craft stands, competitions and entertainment for all the family. The Grand Parade in the Main Ring on the last day of the County Show showcases all of the superb championship winners; it’s a wonderful spectacle for everyone to admire and should not be missed! A true celebration of our county’s agricultural heritage.
The Nottinghamshire County Show is wonderful day out for everyone, young and old and if you live in the town or countryside. There is so much to see and do with more attractions every year.
Children under 17 years have FREE entry.
