Shows And Events

Our Charity

Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society have been helping and supporting the farming industry and educating our community for over 220 years.

To support our charitable work we depend upon income generated from our three main agricultural shows and all the other events held at Newark Showground. Without this income our charity could not survive and would sadly disappear; just like so many other societies, which have folded over the past two decades.

You can help us to continue our charitable work by visiting and supporting our shows and events.

Nottinghamshire County Show – Originally started in 1799 by the Newark Agricultural Society, our show is one of the oldest in the country. A true celebration of our county’s agricultural heritage.

Traditionally, the County Show gave farmers the opportunity to get together with the local community to celebrate and have a good old knees up. This still happens today, with the addition of educational displays, food and craft stands, competitions and entertainment for all the family, with more attractions added every year.

A wonderful day out for everyone, young and old, if you live in the town or countryside. Children under 17 years have FREE entry.

Vintage Tractor and Heritage Show – is held the  every year over the second weekend in November. A true celebration of our country’s agricultural heritage, with just under 1,000 vintage tractors on display, and heritage crafts and demonstrations to enjoy.

Highlights are the Saturday Auction of vintage tractors, vehicles and parts, hosted by Brown & Co. and last year, over 600 people attended the Remembrance Sunday Service, paying tribute to our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom.

A quirky and truly interesting family attraction, children under 17 years have FREE entry.

Midlands Machinery Show – Held mid-week on Wednesday and Thursday in November, immediately after the Vintage Tractor and Heritage Show.

Fast becoming the most important show in the industry, here you will see the latest developments in new farm machinery and technological innovations.

A showcase of the very best with over 300 exhibitors. Entry to the show is FREE for everyone.

Can You Help Us?

We are always looking for volunteers and help from individuals, organisations and companies to help us in our charitable work. Any offer of your time or money is never too small and will always be very much appreciated and gratefully received.

VOLUNTEER STEWARD – We are always grateful for a helping hand, at any of our three shows. Training and support is given,  along with meal vouchers and free entry to the show.

SPONSORSHIP – Would you like to help a young person at the start of their career? We have branded opportunities to sponsor our Agricultural Education Development Grants and Agricultural Engineering Apprentice Awards.

DONATIONS – We are always grateful for any donations towards our Education Programme no matter how small. Every little helps us to provide much needed resources to children and young people.

Please contact our Education Officer in the first instance.
