Chalk To Fork
What We Do
Chalk to Fork is Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society’s Education Programme for everyone. Discover all the different activities and age groups we help in our What We Do pages.
EDUCATION
1 in 5 children aged between 5 to 11 years think cheese comes from a plant, pasta grows on trees and it takes ten years to grow a carrot!
1 in 10 adults believe tofu is a type of mushroom and that bacon comes from a cow.
We have a series of hands-on, practical Farming Challenges, FREE for children and adults to learn where food comes from and how it is produced.

The farming industry needs 60,000 new people to work in the sector within the next ten years, as the average age of a farmer is now 59. The variety of job opportunities is immense, with average salaries exceeding the national average, and you don’t need to come from a farming background.
