Careers Support For Young People

How We Can Help

As part of our charitable work at Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society, we provide financial support to students studying at an agricultural college or university.

Our awards are open to Society members who are Nottinghamshire residents  between the age of 16 and 30 years; and are given in support of our charity’s objectives, which are to promote primary agriculture and related industries.

Contact our Education Officer for further information or to express your interest.

Agricultural Education Development Grants – The maximum grant value is £500 per applicant. Priority is given to young people who have not yet had the opportunity to accumulate savings or those in need of financial support.

The exact amount awarded will be at the discretion of the interviewing panel, and is subject to qualifying criteria.

Visit our Agricultural Education Development Grants page to download an application form and apply.

Agricultural Engineering Apprenticeship Awards – Our charity supports agricultural apprenticeships for young engineers aged 17 – 25, with a bursary of £500 to assist them financially with their careers.

To be eligible students must be currently working with an agricultural engineering company and attending day release at an academic institution. Priority is given to apprentices working or studying in the Midlands.

Visit our Agricultural Engineering Apprentices page where you can watch a short video all about what the Scheme has to offer, and learn more about the many career opportunities available. You also find a link to apply for one of our awards.

Can You Help Us?

We are always looking for volunteers and help from individuals, organisations and companies to help us in our charitable work. Any offer of your time or money is never too small and will always be very much appreciated and gratefully received.

You can help us to support a young person in several  ways… Please contact our Education Officer for more information.

SPONSORSHIP – Would you like to help a young person at the start of their career? We have opportunities to sponsor our Agricultural Education Development Grants and Agricultural Engineering Apprenticeship Awards.

DONATIONS – We are always grateful for any donations towards our Education Programme no matter how small. Every little helps us to provide much needed resources to children and young people.

VOLUNTEER – We are always grateful for a helping hand. This could be stewarding at the Nottinghamshire County Show once a year, or perhaps you may have more time on your hands and are able to support our Farming Challenge Award food growing projects? We welcome offers from local farmers who are able to provide work experience placements or farm visits.
